Hidden down one of Melbourne's most famous laneways ' Rankins Lane' off Little Bourke Street in between Elizabeth and Queen is Piccolo Teatro. A warehouse space that has been meticulously converted using vintage velvet drapes, antique chairs and walls that have been hand painted a brilliant red .. this is Piccolo Teatro. A mini stage was built and state of the art sound and lighting installed, the walls were adorned with framed photos of all the artists in various productions that helped create this space as well as icons of magic from the distant past.

Piccolo Teatro offers you an experience, not just magic but an intimate gathering of just 32 people that feels like a private party ... reminiscent of Melbourne in the 1970's when places like 'The Flying Trapeze' and 'The Last Laugh' were a hub for artists. Rustic yet opulent and welcoming our theatre is the only one of it's kind in Australia and is inspired from venues throughout Europe.

Piccolo Teatro was founded and created by magicians Sam Angelico and "Raconteur Production"s  - Julia Madotti and Richard Vegas.

 

Sam Angelico is a former world champion of magic having won the prestigious "Fism' magic competition in Japan early in his career. He has toured the world continuously performing throughout the USA, Europe and Asia in hundreds of theatre, cabaret and circus productions as a solo performer.

Julia Madotti and Richard Vegas are directors of the company 'Raconteur Productions' that toured 'The Paris Underground Cabaret' for a decade around Australia as well as 'Club Soda' and 'Lost in Venice'. As both magicians and trained actors they have also toured with multiple other circus and production companies.

The idea began in Italy 2024 when by chance they all arrived at FISM festival of magic at the same time and, inspired by what they saw around them, a seed was planted to bring 'Piccolo Teatro' to Melbourne
